Brazil officially recognizes the Caminho da Fé as a national tourist route to Aparecida
On July 3, 2026, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva enacted Law 15.449/2026, officially recognizing the "Caminho da Fé" as a national tourist route. The route connects more than 70 municipalities in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, beginning in Águas da Prata (SP) and culminating at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. Federal recognition ensures structural and administrative support for the cities that welcome pilgrims along the Serra da Mantiqueira, affirming one of Brazil’s most significant pilgrimage routes.
